While striking on its own merit, the 9-1/2-inch porcelain ashtray complements Gorgona dinnerware, a white-and-gold pattern in which mythology meets modern. In addition to a geometric Greek key design rendered in gold, the rim is also decorated by two bas-relief heads of Medusa, also known as the Gorgon; one in gold, the other in matte white encircled by a golden Greek key design. Four grooved rests hold cigars, allowing the ashtray to be shared by several smokers at once. To help protect the gold, the ashtray should be washed by hand.
