Customer Reviews

Great for Camper Drawers TooThese latches are probably used mostly to protect very small children from getting into things that could hurt them but I had some drawers in our slide-in truck camper that kept sliding out when we were on the road because the old drawer locks were worn out. This product seemed like a simple fix at a good price for 4 latches. The seller sent them out quickly, they arrived in perfect shape and we like the design. The 4 latches only came with 8 screws (2 for each latch) but I added a couple more wood screws to each for good measure.Due to the way our camper drawers are made, I had to remove the drawer face and cut a half inch notch in the drawer frame so I could attach the lock at the right height but that was pretty simple too (see photos). The drawers stay securely closed now and open easily by pushing down the spring loaded arm. I do have to remember to open the drawer a little, then push down the button to open it the rest of the way or I think I could damage the drawer latch if I (or the grandkids) just yanked the drawer open without thinking. We are very happy with the purchase and we have a couple spares to take on the road with us in case some other drawers start to open while traveling. 5Reclaim your counter and drawer space from your toddler! So I was hesitant to pay this much for these but I went ahead and bought four packs. SO GLAD I DID! These cannot even compare to the latches you get at walmart or lowes! I have an almost 2yro VERY BUSY boy. I've put latches on most cabinets and lower drawers but now that he's older he can reach inside the top drawers. Not to mention we have busted several of the other latches. These are not as long as the other latches so they aren't as likely to break AND my toddler can't get his hand in the drawer like he could with the others. So simple to install compared to others! No need for a pencil and drill bit. I found it far easier to put a piece of tape on each side to hold it when I had it where I wanted. These are very forgiving and adjustable without having to back the screws out and make more holes. I just used my power drill to put the screws in directly. Instructions tell you to use a drill bit first. There really is no need. They give you good screws that are easy to start in wood. I'm beyond happy that I can again reclaim my drawer and counter space! It got so bad that my bathroom drawers were empty and everything was cluttered on the counter or in the towel cabinet. Not anymore! I had about 12 drawers done in 30 min. 5Quality Product, Not Great for Baby-Proofing ThoughI've had 6 of these installed in the bathroom for about 5 months now and so far so good in so far as how they operate. The latches themselves are quality-built, operate smoothly, and don't give way to a hard yank or pressure. I added a bit of plastic-safe grease to the sliding mechanism and they're even smoother now. It's important to properly install these; any distortion to the plastic from the screws will cause the sliding mechanism to bind during use. That said, if you're planning on using these to baby-proof, look elsewhere - it took 5 months but at 18 months, my LO figured out how to use the latches and can again open drawers. Clevergirl.gif 4Prevents cats from getting into your drawers--not just toddlers--and it's the best solution for that in most casesWe got ours to cat-proof our drawers. Our cat loves to open drawers and claw out all the clothing he finds in them. It's a cat thing I guess. These stopped him 99% of the time. On occasion he's still been able to get one or two items out but mostly he just gives up (you have to have a small gap so you can push down the latch). The spring loading mechanism is more trustworthy than ones that rely on flexing a piece of plastic. Those always break eventually in my experience. Not this. The one trick is that the latch has to have something to latch onto, namely the piece of wood along the top of the drawer. Usually you do, but if it's smooth there these won't work. If you have a normal cabinet layout these are vastly preferable to any alternative in my experience, and they're really easy to install, even if you insist on predrilling every hole, as I do. 4Good for about 18 monthsWe installed these in our whole kitchen, six cabinets and eight drawers, 14 latches in total. After 18 months of hard use the five most used drawer latches have recently broken and we worry about a few of the others breaking soon. None of the cabinet latches have broken even after heavy use. We had hoped these would last for more than one child but I guess not. We ll probably buy thes agin or at least something similar given their lifespan.I m not looking forward to reinstalling them as the initial Installation was a bit of a pain but once it was done it was done and we never needed to go back except to remove the few that have broken. These are quick to unlock for adults and complicated enough to keep our toddler out. Unlike the straps that sit outside the cabinet/drawer looking ugly and requiring two hands to unlock these only take a one hand and don t require directions on how to use them when friends come over. 3Just buy these latches already. Also some suggestions for install.Just buy these latches already. I've tried others, but these work the best and have purchased a few sets for around the house. My baby bangs the hell out of these and have never had one fail. The negative reviews complain that these are too short. I think the length is perfect. I've seen longer ones, but they allow for pinched fingers or little hands to reach in. To check if these will work, look at the picture to see where the release is. Pull out your drawer or cabinet door about 2 inches. If you can see inside to push the button, you're all set.Suggestions; Don't overtighten the screws or it will make closing the doors difficult. Just snug and they hold perfect. Also, don't bother with the second piece designed for inside the cabinet or drawer. Not needed and shortens how far the door opens. 5The best of 3 types we have triedI purchased three types of child proofing drawer locks on Amazon, and these have been the best by far. Much easier to install than others that we tried, and they work well. 5Cats have been foiled by these latchesHad to put latches on drawers and cabinets when we got adopted by three kittens 2 years ago. Now they are strong young cats and have figured out how to get into drawers and cabinets. So, cat/child proofing supplies were needed. These latches are strong and were easy to install. Not sure how old a kid would be before they figured it out but so far the cats can't work the latch. Pray for us. 5Great latches, but beware.I bought a bunch of these to cat proof my kitchen cabinets as that was always there favorite playground, always in and out of the drawers, crawling into the lower cabinets, banging pots and pans in the middle of the nite. Just non stop racket from them and I finally had to put a stop to it.These work very well, I didn't use the supplied screws, I used double sided sticky foam squares, works great for just cats, not sure how it would work for kids. The only downside is now my cats are pissed, and I mean really pissed. They sat and watched me install these, not knowing exactly what I was doing. As soon as I finished they went and tested a drawer, no luck getting it open, so they went and tried another, doubling up on it even, still no luck. After about an hour they finally gave up, now they just sit in the middle of the kitchen floor and glare at me when I walk in. Guaranteed these two are plotting some revenge crap on me, just don't know what or when.Wish me luck. 5Would not purchase againI bought these for kitchen/bathroom in my new house based on being spring loaded and reviews. I haven't even had them on my drawers for 2.5 months and my son still tries to open the drawers which has resulted in a couple of them breaking. He doesn't pull hard enough for them to open but apparently the plastic is weak enough that it can't withstand a 1.5 year old doing that. 2
