    Great for travel or just making a single cup of coffee at home. While traveling earlier this year, a woman I met had one of these collapsable cone filters and swore by it. I finally found the same one she had and I love the fact that it folds up to save space (great if traveling and want to make your own java) but it is durable silicone and cleans up in a jiffy. Home or away, if you LOVE your coffee, get this. It uses #2 filters and the filters fit in perfectly. 5EDITED! DOESNT LEAK! (Compact, makes good coffee but leaks around the cup edge a little :() This is the perfect size and the collapsing feature for storage is nice. It will almost fit flat in a pants pocket when collapsed. Coffee tasted great. I did notice, like others, that it does leak a tablespoon or so of liquid past the bottom side when sitting on an average size 1/8" thick rimmed average mug. The manufacturer needs to make nipples at the drain holes to prevent this and should recall the ones already out there until it is fixed.There are ridges on the bottom surface but they do not work to prevent edge leakage. Don't use this on a surface that you don't want a little coffee spillage on. All that being said it is an otherwise nice product and i will continue to use it with the knowledge to use a plate underneath when brewing to prevent a tabletop mess but this shouldn't have to be necessary to begin with.I may try like another reviewer stated and carefully cut a small shallow v into the bottom between the holes with a razor to see if that will stop the leakage. I'm a little disappointed.UPDATE: I've used this product hundreds of times now and only had leakage once. I've learned to make sure it is centered evenly over the cup, then no leakage. I prefer this over a coffee maker in the morning when it's just me. Nuke some water for 2 minutes and pour over the grinds. I'm drinking a perfect cup of coffee 3 minutes from the start. Much easier to clean up than the pot and basket of a coffee maker. Highly recommended! 5GREAT filter for traveling! So compact! This collapsible filter is perfect for traveling! I like to brew my own coffee in hotel rooms so I can enjoy my favorite flavors of ground decaf. I have traveled with a plastic filter cone for years but always wished it didn't take up so much space in my bag. This product is exactly what I needed. I've tried it out and it works just as well as a plastic one but folds down so compactly. While it is being used, it feels very stable and doesn't run the risk of collapsing. Yet it is easy to fold down when you are ready to store it. I plan to keep this in my travel bag permanently! Now whenever I visit relatives that don't drink coffee (nor own have a machine), I can bring this along with my baggie of coffee and filters and I am all set to make myself a cup whenever I want.Some reviewer mentioned not fitting well on their travel coffee mug. I can see how that might happen if you have a narrow mug. You may have to be careful when you place the filter on top of your mug to make sure the holes are inside the cup. I measured the distance from the outer edge of one hole to the outer hole of the another, and it is a bit over 1 1/4", if that is helpful for anyone. 5Almost perfect This is the best purchase I have made in a long time, a simple and perfectly functional item at the perfect price. I moved to a new home with a stainless steel sink and in the past six months I have broken my glass drip coffee pot and my glass french press so I decided it was time to get myself something unbreakable to make coffee with. This drip coffee maker is self explanatory, straightforward, made of quality material and it works perfectly with my home-made muslin filter which i used to use with my drip pot. I'm looking forward to taking it with me in a few weeks to visit my family members who have no coffee pot. The only thing which would make this better and the reason I left one star off is that I have to pre-measure the volume of any given cup before I can make coffee in it with this to avoid overfilling, which is a bit of a hassle as I have a lot of coffee mugs with various sizes. Maybe casting it in a transparent or semi-transparent color would solve this problem since you could see through to the cup below and judge the level of liquid. Also not that big of a deal but having color options in general would be nice, the red is pretty ugly and doesn't match anything in my home. The only advantage of the red color is being able to find it in my luggage easily when traveling. I would buy two more for myself and one for all my coffee drinking friends and family if there were more colors (: 4Excellent, Easy Cup of Coffee I bought the Cuissential SlickDrip to be able to make a good cup of coffee while on vacation. Before leaving, I tested it for a week or so and am very pleased with the results. Other than the good coffee, the features I liked was the collapsable construction and non-breakable construction. Perfect for packing in a suitcase. Plastic drippers are easily broken while traveling. Small French presses aren't that small and are breakable and more expensive.I like the coffee better than obtained with a French press because it is filtered and doesn't contain sediment. Some reviewers have mentioned this system is slow. I do not agree. I suspect they are using a very finely ground coffee that plugs up the pores in the filter paper. I have tried mixing the coffee with hot water in a measuring cup, let sit a couple of minutes and then filter. I have also tried putting the coffee in the filter and pouring hot water over it. Both work fine. The soaking procedure might produce a little stronger coffee but both techniques are easy and produce a good coffee.My only complaint or observation is that the coffee is not quite as hot as I would like. Easily remedied by returning the cup to a microwave for a few seconds.I am looking forward to a good cup of coffee on my vacation when I want it and without having to walk to the nearest coffee shop and pay high prices. I estimate the cost of this unit will be recovered within three days of use compared to coffee shop prices. 5Great space-saving option This little coffee gadget is handy. I am NOT a particularly discerning connoisseur of coffee, but I enjoy a cup every day, most often from McFastFood. I decided that $1 a day (or more often) adds up, and I decided to try this SlickDrip. I previously owned a small 4-cup Mr. Coffee and used it for years. It eventually became difficult to clean and I chunked it.Enter SlickDrip.1. Easy to use but requires constant attention. Once I watched a few YouTube videos, I felt good about making coffee with this thing, but you don't just push a button and wander off while the coffee drips. This requires 3-4 minutes of pouring and waiting, pouring and waiting.2. I've had no issue with the SlickDrip at all. Easy to clean, easy to collapse and store. I'm a bit impatient, so I've filled it nearly to capacity several times, and I've had NO issue with leaks or collapsing.My only issue is it is taking me some time to find my balance. How much water, how much coffee, how to keep my water the right temp, etc. I don't have a kettle, so I pour my water from a small pot and it starts to cool during the dripping process (whereas my Mr. Coffee kept it warm in the carafe).All in all, it works. I'm not 100% sold on the technique, but like I said before, I'd be perfectly content with fast food coffee if it weren't for the cost.UPDATE: AUGUST 2016This little pour over is still going strong. I've only had one incident of coffee leaking out/down the side of my cup. I think it was because my Slick Drip was wet, allowing the coffee to travel out to the edge and spill.I mostly rinse after each use and set it on a towel to dry. Once a week, I wash thoroughly with soap. I rarely collapse the cone, only occasionally when I actually need to store it in a drawer. Overall, still glad with this purchase.UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2017This gadget is going strong. Again, once every so often it will totally spazz out and leak/run down the side of my mug. I still don't know what causes it. When that happens, I give the silicone dripper a good scrub with a plastic scrubby (I suspect build-up might be messing with the flow of the coffee?) Once I do that, I seem to be fine again or another few months. It's a mystery, but a messy one (especially when you experience a massive leak off the countertop and down the side of your cabinets/oven). I have taken to placing my mug in the sink while my coffee drips, just to be on the safe side. 4Leaks coffee everywhere [Update - Nov. 2014: i don't know what changed, but this coffee cone now leaks coffee everywhere unless I stand there and hold the edges firmly on my cup. If I lift my fingers from it, coffee rolls across the bottom of the cone, down my mug, and all over my counter. This happens with all cups and varying sizes. I liked it a lot at first, but it's functionally useless now. Went back to my french press.--------------------------[original review] I have used a hard plastic 1-cup drip cone made by another company for years. This filter beats the other one like a drum. In the kitchen, the old filter holder took up substantial space in my coffee cupboard, was often in the way. I liked it for camping, but again where space is a premium it was routinely in the way. In contrast, this filter is fantastic. It is collapsible and folds down to a very compact, very flat circle. Despite being collapsible, it sits firmly on my mug and easily holds the grounds and water. I appreciate well-thought-out engineering, and this is an elegant solution to brewing one cup of drip coffee at a time. At home I fold it down and throw it in the utensil drawer. Traveling or camping, it folds up and fits perfectly in a suitcase or the cookstuff box. For backpacking, I still just drink instant coffee since I try to shave off every spare gram I can find. Performance-wise, it's fantastic. The silicone cleans easily and doesn't hold any flavors from old coffee. Additionally, there are no little nooks and crannies for grounds or old coffee to sit so it's super easy to clean. Highly recommended. 2Leaks all over! Terrible design. Coffee sneaks along the underside and gets all over the counter. Once it was so bad it dripped onto the floor. And not drops, but 12" puddles.It's a mystery how it does it. Some sort of capillary action, obviously, but it's random. Sometimes it works without a hitch and sometimes it makes a huge mess (it tends to be around 50/50). We've tried using it dry and using it wet, lifting straight up to check on level of coffee in cup, tilting it up, leaving it on w/o peeking,There must be some commonality we haven't figured out. My husband is a very handy guy and it has him stumped. But we don't want to spend any more time trying to troubleshoot a stupid coffee cone, We've tossed it in the trash (I wouldn't wish it on a poor Goodwill customer).Too bad. I really liked the concept of collapsible cone for travel, so I may try the other silicone, which has a smooth rather than a wavy bottom. (I have no idea what they would have to do with it, but it's all we can figure out.) 1Easy to use, easy to clean Works great! The shape holds the filter just fine. The weight at the bottom keeps it upright and steady. The silicone does not impart any taste on its own. It's easy to clean up. It collapses down to size without problems. I highly recommend it. 5Most lightweight of the collapsible silicone drip coffee cones I spent some time trying to choose between this product and two other similar products--the GSI Outdoors Collapsible Java Drip Coffee Maker and the William Bounds Sili Gourmet Silicone Collapsible Coffee Filter Holder. I was purchasing this as a gift for my father, who does a lot of travel coast to coast, and normally brings a standard rigid plastic Melitta #2 filter cone with him to make coffee wherever he goes. This collapsible version seemed like a perfect travel accessory. At first I had ordered the GSI Outdoors product because I liked the idea of the lid that would double as a drip tray, but when I received the product, I was surprised how bulky it was. I was picturing it as really compact, for space saving in my dad's luggage, and this one just did not fit the bill. So, after scrutinizing the product descriptions of this SlickDrip versus the William Bounds model, trying to figure out which would be more compact (but with no definite answers because the product dimensions listed are for the packaged item as it is shipped, not the actual product), I ordered them both to compare side by side. Here are the specs for all three products:- SlickDrip: 3-1/2 oz. 4-1/2" diameter x 21/32" tall. Made for #2 filter.- William Bounds: 3-5/8 oz. 4-1/2" diameter x 20/32" tall. Made for #2 filter.- GSI Outdoors: 4-3/4 oz. 5 7/16" diameter x 29/32" tall. Made for #2 or #4 filter.Really the SlickDrip and William Bounds versions were pretty interchangeable, very similar in size and design. The SlickDrip just slightly won for me because it weighed a fraction less, and I liked the cheerful orange color (wouldn't be hard to spot in the depths of a dark suitcase). The William Bounds comes in a choice of red or black; the black might be a good choice if you're worried about stains, not sure if the orange or red colors might stain over time. The only way I'd see a reason to choose the GSI Outdoors model would be if you actually want the option of using a #4 filter, or if the drip tray is important to you--but to me, the extra inch in diameter and over an extra ounce of weight compared to the other products was just not worth the drip tray. 5
