Customer Reviews

Great rack - try some tubing to protect your sink I have a large integrated sink in my Corian counter and I have found that the Kohler Bakersfield rack fits the sink very well. The long side is a perfect fit. The short sides are a couple of inches short so the rack does slide up and down. I previously had the coated wire version of the rack and wanted to replace it but Kohler does not make the coated version any more. I was worried about the bare steel rack scratching the sides of my sink. We came up with a solution. At any home improvement store you can buy tubing that fits around the wire. In our case, we bought polyethylene 1/4" OD tubing, used a sharp razor knife to slice down the side, and cut pieces to fit along the sides of the rack. This stuff is stiff so we used a screw driver to pry it open to fit over the wire on the rack. Voila. You can't really even see it and it prevents the sides of the rack from scratching my sink. 5This kitchen sink is perfect to protect your sink This kitchen sink is perfect to protect your sink. We did a remodel and have a brand new stainless sink. We didn't want it to get scratched up like our previous one. After measuring the sink opening, I bought this one even though my sink isn't a Kohler. It fits with about an inch to spare on the ends and sides. The only downside is that it doesn't have rubber or other protection on the sides and corners. Since it is also stainless, it could scratch your sink, but I bought 1/4" OD poly tubing and cut it to use as protective spacers. Now....it's perfect. 5Sturdy Product came in original Koehler box, inside another box, so very well packaged. Was concerned about strength because it has only four feet, but doesn t bow in the middle with the weight of dishes and everyday pans. Could have really used another inch on the sides but finding near a 13 depth was difficult. Still functional with a little gap. Hope it holds up, only a couple days old. 5Sink saver This fits our sink perfectly and I like the rubber feet. The only downside is the strength of the metal. It starts to bend if you soak a bowl or casserole dish in the sink, so I end up taking it out or leaving the soaking bowl on the side of the sink. Our sink was already scratched by construction workers, but this has protected it from more scratching, so has been worth it. Just wish it was more rigid or stronger. 4Looked nice, but sat really high in my sink. Bought this intending on using it in our new stainless steel sink. Looked nice, but it sat up very high in our sink, despite it being the recommended sink rack from my manufacturer. Thought of removing the rubber legs on the bottom, but then thought better of it.A nice look, but did not fit well in my sink! 3I don't know how I lived without this That's kind of a joke as I could easily live without it, but it's dandy item to have. Of course one must have a sink that it fits in, so when I had to replace a sink I purchased one that would fit this. Saves sooo much wear & tear on a stainless sink basin as nothing touches it, though now and then a knife edge or something will fall through, but that's not often and no matter what, this will make your stainless sink look good a whole lot longer. Also great for washing vegetables among other things. A little pricey for just a wire rack, but I don't regret it. 510/10 definitely recommended This is a great sink rack, very good quality and sturdy. Fits in my sink perfectly and very easy to clean without putting it in the dishwasher. If being able to wash it in the dishwasher is important to you, measure your dishwasher first before your purchase. (I would have loved to be able to put this in my dishwasher but my dishwasher is too small and it wont close with the rack inside.) That makes no difference to me because it cleans up so nicely hand washing it. Almost a year after purchase and it has kept my stainless steel sink scratch free!! YAY :D 5Why make something that marks up the sink? I'll give the sugru bumpers a try - glad to have a potential solution. BUT, the question is: Why does Kohler make a rack that unavoidably marks up the sink corners? I have the Kohler sink and the Kohler stainless sink rank. I had a white-coated Kohler sink rack (that didn't mark up the sink), but couldn't find the same when it needed to be replaced. 3How to make great product even better This keeps my dishpan from getting slimy underneath. Another reviewer commented that even though the rubber feet kept scratches off the sink bottom, the metal corners still managed to mark and scratch inside the corners of the sink. So I performed the following DIY upgrade: I bought a couple pkgs of Sugru (if you aren't familiar with this stuff, you are missing out on a terrific product!). I divided each package into 4 pieces. I formed each of the 8 pieces into little 3/8" "bumpers" which wrapped around both sides of each corner. Little oval football shapes. They look terrific, like the rack was made that way. The white Sugru matches the little white feet and with the "bumper" design I can pull the rack in and out of the sink without making any marks or scratches - yay! 5Beautiful protection for your sink A fabulous find to protect my beautiful new sink. I checked to be sure this fit/was made for my Kohler sink and the fit is perfect. I worried that the sides might scratch but they have great little rubber bumpers on the bottom and it is made to fit just slightly inside the sink. I love it's protection as I can leave dishes or hot pots inside the sink while we eat and go back to them. The only issue I can see as a negative is that some food (noodles and veggies and such) do lodge around the metal rack strands - but this is NOT an issue if you rinse after every use - no need to scrub they just rinse right off and down the drain....just be sure to rinse after you pour anything over them... 5
