Customer Reviews

This is the one! I bought this as my first experience with resin casting. A friend told me she had on-again-off-again success with this brand. I received mine in the mail, and I immediately had to try it. My very first try at this casting thing was a HUGE success! I love this stuff already. I've done 4 more batches of castings (all made in silicone molds), and they've all been perfect! I am really into crafting and jewelry, and I LOVE the idea of being able to throw stuff into my original pieces, like leaves, flowers, oregano, human hair, etc. He he he. Really, though, I love this, and I don't see any reason to buy any other brand in the future. Buy this one! 5Geat for little crafts! I got this resin to make some small charms. I needed something that was non yellowing and this will stay clear. It's a 1 to 1 ratio and that makes it really easy for measuring out. I just use those little cough medicine cup measures but it depends on how big your project is. Be sure to use something that is disposable because this would be very hard to clean out of a measuring cup.The smell is interesting, it actually smells a little sweet and chemically. I would recommend wearing a face mask and gloves when working with this so it doesn't get all over your hands. It's very hard to get off and can cause skin damageThe only problem I've had with this resin is that it takes a much longer time to dry than others I've tried. I left the resin in the silicone mold for 2 days and still had trouble getting a couple of them out for some reason they were stuck to the bottom and the inside was still tacky. I've never had that happen before so I'm not too sure what happened there. But overall it's been easy to work with. 4Never gets super hard like others Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Actually, most of the time it always stays slightly tacky/sticky. I've gotten it to work once, but didn't do anything different. Exact measuring, long stirring... I won't buy this brand again.UPDATE: I figured it out. It says to mix for 2 minutes. MIX A MINIMUM OF 6 MINUTES. It works perfectly now that I figured out it's all about the mixing.ALSO... When using to "fill" something. Do it in 1/4" increments. Let dry, then add another layer. I will buy this again now that I got it working for me. 5Pretty cool stuff This is the first time i have ever tried poured epoxy. It wasn't difficult at all. Just be warned that some things float in the epoxy. I thought I waited long enough (3 hours) after placing items in 6oz of the mixture. They still floated to the top when pouring the rest. 5Not Casting Resin This was not casting resin. It was labeled as such on the outside packaging and on the bottles, but it was not. It was mold casting material. When I first mixed it, I noticed that it was getting hot, which was unusual for resin. All of a sudden it started to harden and begin something like I hard plastic material. I couldn't even remove the stir stick. It was stuck in the material. I don't know what this product actually was, but it wasn't resin!!! Am asking for a refund again! 1Great product This is a really great resin! I love to make orgonite but with asthma it's hard to be able to work with resin because of the chemical odors. This barely has a smell to it. It hardens well. Within a day it can be released from its mold. I only had a problem with it not hardening when i first started working with it and i know its because of the temp. I cure in a 70 degree room and have had no problems since. 5Great Item Great resin for beginners. I use it on my domino jewelry. Mix according to package instructions. I mix with a Popsicle under a warm light to avoid bubbles. I then use the stick to put it on the domino a little at a time. If you over fill it will flow over the sides. After you cover your surface I suggest blowing through a straw on the surface to pop any bubbles that you may have. If you have any stubborn bubbles they can easily be popped with a tooth pick. I let it set under a protective cover (to prevent dust particles) for at least 48 hours to cure. You can still cause scratches and dents for a day or two longer but if you are careful you can then work with it. You don't need a respirator but you will want to be in a ventilated room. 5Just what I wanted to make faux water! Loved the way my project turned out!Fairly easy to use, but must be careful.I didn t have any problem with it hardening up, it s only been 4 hours and the flowers don t move. 5Worked great for some diy floral arrangements I used this to look like water when I created three small to medium floral arrangements in vases for our fireplace mantle. I had tried using clear glue before that (I was totally clueless lol) and that had dried yellow (and had other issues) and looked awful. I was worried when I first poured this that it would have a ton of bubbles but they all rose to the surface and disappeared after a little bit and it dried nice and solid by the time I checked it the following day. I've never used epoxy before and was intimidated but it was easy as long as directions are followed. It looks great and I was really pleased with the results. I recommend buying some disposable clear cups and popsicle sticks for measuring and mixing. 5Great This stuff normally cures very slowly, and the 1:1 ratio is critical. I initially got some bad results (uncured epoxy) by not titrating carefully, and by omitting the second mixing container. So follow the directions and don't skimp on the mixing. For a faster cure, I got good results by mixing it in an empty tin can. Which I then held over a heat gun until the stuff was warmed to maybe 120-140F. All the while, I mixed it thoroughly. I kind of alternated between using wooden sticks and a cordless drill with a piece of bent wire in it. I mixed and mixed for about 5 minutes at least. If the stuff starts smoking, then it's too hot, and it will likely start to set before you're done mixing! Then, following the directions, I poured it into a second container. Got a new stick and wire. And mixed some more without the heat for a few minutes. Finally, I poured it and left it out in the sun in 100+ degree heat. Within a couple or three hours, it set pretty hard.I dunno about bubbles or color, but it works well for what I intended.I recommend the use of syringes, if you plan to mix up small quantities. With proper mixing temp, this stuff can be used as regular structural/adhesive epoxy in addition to casting usage. With the heat gun and some experimentation, I can get it to a thick gel consistency that sets within 10-30 minutes. Adhesion is very good. Also, when heated, the stuff mixes a lot easier. So you might want to heat it just a little, even if you are going for a slow cure. 5
